Methods of Earning TUs

Classroom courses are the major training experience provided by WLI.  While the format may vary, a typical WLI course runs two consecutive days.  Training units are determined by the number of teaching hours per course.  WLI assigns 1 TU per 4-6 hours of instruction.  Thus, a one day course is typically 2 TUs and a two day course is 4 TUs.

Training units may be earned through a variety of ways.  To meet diploma requirements, 60 TUs must be WLI Courses (24 of which are from core topic areas), and 32 TUs must be taken in a live format.

Live format training includes:
1-Attending a live WLI Course or Seminar
2-Watching a live WLI course via web cast
3-Attending a pre-approved outside (non-WLI) approved course/conference

Course work not considered live format includes:
1-WLI courses taken on CD/DVD
2-Home based study (must be pre-approved through WLI Registrar)
3-Pre-approved on-going ministry (i.e. planting churches, writing a book, etc.)

Students may also obtain an additional 2 training units for extra reading.  This is available for every WLI course taken.  Students must read at least 500 pages on the specific course topic and fill out the WLI Reading Report Form for each book.  Students will be charged a minimum of $16.00 per training unit for the additional extra reading training units.  Students may earn a maximum of 2 TUs per course for additional reading regardless of the length of the course.  Reading reports may be submitted at any time after a course is completed.

Earning Training Units (TUs)

Students earn TUs when they submit a 3-5 page typed self-evaluation paper after each course to the WLI office. This self-evaluation paper should reflect how the student was transformed by the course rather than focusing on course content.  Students have 90 days to turn in self-evaluation papers from live courses/conferences and one year for CD/DVDs.  All WLI courses are pass/fail.  Failure to turn in a self-evaluation paper will result in the student failing the course.  No TUs will be earned for failed courses.  Students are required to pay full price to re-take any WLI course.

Fee Structure for WLI Courses

WLI-LA charges a minimum of $20.00 per training unit for all courses and conferences regardless of the method of taking the course.  Taking a course in a live format, web casting or through DVD all cost the same.

Fee Structure for Outside Courses and Conferences

An outside course or conference is any event that WLI Central did not sponsor.  Outside courses and conferences must be pre-approved through the WLI-LA Registrar.  The Registrar will determine the number of TUs to assign to each outside event based upon teaching hours.  The additional tuition cost is determined from the number of TUs assigned.

Courses taught at WLI regional and international centers as well as Global Harvest Ministries’ seminars and conferences are treated as outside events.

Students planning to take an outside event for WLI credit must contact the WLI-LA office in advance with the name, location, topic, speakers, cost, dates, and teaching time involved in the conference.
